A plan that accounts for drainage, sun, and upkeep means what goes in fills out the way it should instead of becoming something to manage.

Landscape design starts with understanding the property. Sun exposure, drainage, soil conditions, and how you actually use the space all shape what will thrive and what will struggle. A design that ignores those factors can look excellent the day it goes in and become a problem two years later.

Grading is part of this conversation more often than people expect. Most outdoor project failure traces back to water going somewhere it shouldn't, and correcting grade after everything is installed means undoing finished work. We address it during planning instead.

Plant selection is where most of the long term outcome gets decided. The right plants for a location establish quickly, fill in properly, and hold their proportion without constant cutting back. The build is the other half, since beds need proper edging, base prep, and drainage from the start.
